About the PAClayFans

~ our story ~

In September of 2003, fans around the country were eagerly awaiting the release of Clay
Aiken’s first official full length CD: “Measure of a Man.”   Pennsylvania’s fans were no
different!

Five Pennsylvania cities hosted CD Release Parties on the evening of October 13, 2003:
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Harrisburg.
While planning those parties, email lists of fans from those five cities were created.  The
Scranton and Wilkes-Barre areas combined their two lists to create one email fan list.

After the CD party was over, fans from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area wanted to stay in
touch, and so they continued to use their email list with the “reply all” button of their email
programs.  That was done until December 5, 2003, when the PAClayFans Yahoo group
was initiated.  The creation of this group permitted fans from across the state to share their
new found fanship with one another and to quickly become good friends.

During December 2003 and January 2004, the original CD party coordinators from
Pittsburgh (Kelli Nerger), Scranton (Linda Learn), and Harrisburg, discussed creating a
website presence on the internet.  (It should be noted that although an effort was made on
several occasions to reach the party coordinators from the Philadelphia area during the
creation of the website, due to personal reasons, they were unable to be involved.)

As these plans moved along, a poll was taken from within the PAClayFans yahoo group
and in January 2004, the name “PAClayFans” was permanently adopted for the group.

Tonya Homan from Florida lent her artistic and graphic talents to the group and designed
the PAClayFans website logo.

At the end of January 2004, the PAClayFans website went online at
www.PAClayFans.com .  Kelli Nerger, from Pittsburgh, created the initial site and served
as the first webmaster for the group.

The PAClayFans yahoo group quickly grew to over 330 members and included not only
Pennsylvania fans, but also fans from around the country.

In January 2004, it became clear that the PAClayFans group included many members from
surrounding states, and so, a decision was made to create the Mid-Atlantic Clay Fans site
and message board, to be hosted by the PAClayFans.  This was to provide a place for
fans from the eight state Mid-Atlantic region to interact and build friendships. The hope was
that the message board would serve as a place where fans from other states could begin
to build meet-up groups for parties and concert travels.  The Mid-Atlantic Clay Fans site
was built by Gina Paul and Devon Fawcett and went online on January 20, 2005.   Today,
that group has over 1400 members and continues to grow.

Shortly after the creation of the MACF site and message board, on March 19, 2005, the
Mid-Atlantic Clay Fans yahoo group was started as a way to spread concert and other
important “Clay” information quickly to those who might not have time to check a message
board.  That group also continues to grow.

On April 15, 2006, the PAClayFans website was updated and taken over by Densise
Rizza.  And then on October 1, 2007, the website entered yet another phase in its growth,
and was taken over by Gina Paul.

Our hope is that the latest PAClayFans website will serve as a one stop source of
information for all the latest Clay Aiken information and happenings throughout the state of
Pennsylvania.
